Born in Palermo, Italy, Cartaino Pietro became a sculptor in realist style of classical figural subjects. He studied in Rome but was primarily self taught. He lived in Pelham, New York, New York City, and Boston, where he was a member of the Boston Art Club. In 1915, he exhibited at the San Francisco Exposition, and in 1919 his work was exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy, although he was deceased.
Pietro was the founder and director of a group called Young Artists.
