Charles Dunn was born in Washington D.C. on December 9th 1894. He began his career as a sports cartoonist for the "Washington Times". He contributed illustrations including covers for as the "Saturday Evening Post", "Holiday", "Life" magazine and the "Washingtonian". He also worked as an art director for "Nation's Business Magazine".
In 1917 he won the contest for the design for the D.C. flag inspired by George Washington's coat of arms. He produced over one-hundred and eighty caricature (showing 500 of 2751 characters). |
