|  Born in Los Angeles, Claire Dooner-Phillips became a landscape painter and etcher who spent the last thirty years of her life in Prescott, Arizona.
She attended Stanford University and later studied with Arthur Dow at Columbia University. She taught at Hollywood High School and was a co-founder of the Laguna Beach Art Association in 1918 and a member of the California Art Club.
After the death of her mother, she moved to Prescott, Arizona where she gave art lessons, and in 1927, married Kervin Phillips, who made exquisite gilded frames for his wife's paintings. She exhibited at the Arizona State Fair, and her work is in the collection of the Arizona Historical Museum.
Most of her early work was in oil, but she later taught herself to do etchings. Upon her death, the balance of her $90,000. estate was bequeathed to Prescott College and used to build Clara Dooner-Phillips Memorial Fine Arts Center.

|  Born in Los Angeles, CA on Jan. 31, 1887, Claire Dooner-Phillips graduated from Stanford University in 1908, and then studied with Arthur Dow at Columbia University.
She taught at Hollywood High School until 1920. She then moved to Prescott, AZ, but continued spending summers in Los Angeles.
In 1927 she wed Kervin Phillips who created many of the frames for her paintings. She died in Prescott on April 2, 1960.

| Claire Dooner-Phillips was born in 1886 in Los Angeles, and moved to Prescott, Az in 1922. She had attended Stanford University, and like Lillian Wilhelm Smith, studied with Arthur Dow.
In Prescott, she taught art and married Kervin Phillips, who also made her frames. She continued to paint and produce etchings and watercolors, and was a founding member of the Monday Club's Fine Art Committee, winning many awards throughout her career.
Her signature changed from Clara Dooner to Claire Dooner to Claire Dooner-Phillips as her life and marital status changed.
