An illustrator of children's stories, Colista Dowling was born in Waverly, Kansas and settled in Portland, Oregon where she was a member of the Art Association and the Oregon Society of Artists.
Her book illustrations include "Trundle Tales", "Cougar Pass", and "The Oregon Girl", and she also had portraits in public buildings and murals in churches.
