| Born in California on Jan. 1, 1901. While a resident of Santa Cruz in 1919, Doane was founder of the Santa Cruz Art League.
He was an artist as a young man but turned to architecture early in his career. He was married 3 times and had 6 children. He lived his entire life in California and designed buildings throughout the state.
