| Daniel Dickinson worked as a portrait and miniature painter in Philadelphia from 1818 until 1846. From 1847 until at least 1866, Dickinson lived in Camden, New Jersey, where he eventually turned to horticulture and gave up portrait painting.
Daniel was the son of Oliver Dickinson, Jr. and younger brother of the more famous miniaturist, Anson Dickinson.
