| The first Director and architect of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Daniel Defenbacher changed the Walker collection from Hudson River School and Oriental art work to one of contemporary design and art.
He was active with the WPA and became an arts administrator in Washington DC. He was also a painter of regional scenes in realist style.
