Living on the Maine coast, David Dewey is a watercolor painter whose
work reflects his interest in architecture as well as his emotional
response to geography that has wide open panoramic views, especially of
water. The effect is described as both serene and disturbing
because he has the ability to combine photo-real treatment of buildings
such as country churches with distorted perspectives and close
cropping. Often the subject seems to tower over the viewer.
