A third generation Californian, Dennis Doheny won in spring, 1998 the plein-air painting competition held in Carmel, California. He spent his youth in Los Angeles but later lived in the Big Sur area and then settled near Santa Barbara.
For fifteen years, he was a commercial artist, creating everything from billboards to aerospace drawings, but changed to fine art and plein-air painting to combine his love of the outdoors with painting.
In 2000, he received the $10,000 Granville Red (showing 500 of 1200 characters). |
