Do Xuan Doan, a Vietnamese specialist in lacquer paintings, was born in Hanoi in 1937. He studied at Ecole des Beaux Arts de Hanoi and graduated in 1961. Following in the steps of other Vietnamese master artists, To Ngoc Van, Phan Ke An, and Nguyen Gia Tri, he joined the army, and although Do Xuan Doan continued to paint, he did not retain any works from this period.
In 1985, as conditions in his life began to improve, Do Xuan Doan was able to begin to paint again for his per (showing 500 of 1643 characters). |
