| | Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 14, 1907. Elton was the son of artist Augustus Davies. He moved to southern California with his family in 1910, and later returned to Poughkeepsie for his education at St Stephens College. Leaving southern California, he moved north to Berkeley in 1950 to teach at the CCAC and in Oakland public schools. He was a resident of Berkeley into the 1990s. Exh: Calif.
