This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Halle, Germany on July 9, 1902. Doering began his art studies in his native land. After immigrating to Los Angeles in 1922, he continued his studies at the Art Institute there and soon became active in the local art scene. During the 1930s he moved to San Francisco and worked for the Crocker Lithograph Company and others. The admission tickets for the GGIE were designed by him. During the 1970s he worked for the City as an illustrator. Upon retirement, he moved down to San Jose where he remained until his demise on June 15, 1980. His fine art includes landscapes, still lifes, and marines in oil and watercolor as well as pen-and-ink drawings. No relation of painter Paul Doering. Exh: Artists Fiesta (LA), 1931; SWA, De Young Museum, 1950s.
