| Frank L. Day was born in Berry Creek, California on February 24, 1902. A Native American, Day studied at Bacone College in Oklahoma. He worked as a sign painter and at a variety of jobs until 1960 when he was in a serious car accident. He then began painting imagery from Maidu traditional narratives as he recovered. He died in Sacramento, CA on August 13, 1976. In 1999 a retrospective of his art was exhibited at the National Museum of the American Indian.
Works held: Bureau of Indian Affairs; California State University, Sacramento; Indian Arts and Crafts Board; University of California, Davis.
