A painter, writer, and illustrator, Frieda Das spent her career in India and Northern California. She was born in Switzerland and studied there at Universities in Bern and Zurich and then moved to California to study at Stanford University. She graduated in 1910 and then took art lessons from Gottardo Piazzoni and classes at the California School of Fine Art in San Francisco.
At Berkeley she met Saranghyadar Das, a student from India, and they married and moved to Calcutta. There she wrot (showing 500 of 846 characters). |
