| George Davidson was an amateur artist and job-painter. A resident of Charlestown, Massachusetts, Davidson served as ship-painter on board the ship Columbia during its famous voyage to the Pacific North-West (1790-1793) under the command of Captain Robert Gray. He made a number of sketches of scenes along the coasts of the present states of Washington and Oregon, some of which have been reproduced. He died somewhere in the Pacific in 1800.
