A long-time president of the Chicago Society of Artists, Gustaf Dalstrom was a painter and museum artist who worked for many years at the Field Museum in Chicago creating "authentically documented settings for various world-wide wildlife displays." (227).
He was born in Gotland, Sweden, and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago with George Bellows and Randall Davey. There he received the Logan Award and Gold Medal for excellence.
