The following is from Norman Davies, who credits art historian Edan Hughes:
The artist was born Helen Louise French in Malvern, Ohio on September 2, 1905. She moved to Toledo, Ohio at an early age. After graduating from Libbey High School in 1925, she worked in Toledo until 1941. In that year she settled in Glendale, California where she was director of Max Weil Pottery while studying with William F. Foster.
In 1946, she married John A. De Tar and established the De Tar Studio in (showing 500 of 881 characters). |
