| | Born in Holland in 1828. DeFremery arrived in California in 1851. The following year he painted the portrait of Governor Haight which now hangs in the Oakland Museum. The DeFremery home and surrounding acreage is now a park in Oakland. He died in Alameda, CA in 1884. | Source:
