| Born in Osaka, Japan on Jan. 3, 1907. After arriving in Los Angeles in 1923, Date studied for four years with Stanton MacDonald-Wright at the local ASL and Morgan Russell at Otis Art Institute. He was a resident of Los Angeles until 1942 when he was interned in a Japanese relocation camp in Wyoming. After the War he settled in NYC and remained until his death on Jan. 6, 2005. Before 1945 his works were figurative paintings with synchromist color perception; they then became more abstract. M (showing 500 of 1007 characters). |
