| Born in San Francisco, CA on Oct. 10, 1888. Ida Day wed Walter Degen early in life. She studied at the CSFA under Ralph Stackpole and with Wm Zorach at the ASL in NYC. Most of her career was spent in the California counties of Marin and Sonoma. An instructor of sculpture at Santa Rosa Jr. College in the 1950s, she later made her home in San Mateo, CA until her death on May 2, 1971. Her work is massive, usually in stone or wood.
