Ira J. Deen (1874-1952)
Ira J. Deen was a visual historian who used oil and watercolors to record the many faces of nature. Although he painted an occasional urban scene, Deen’s forte was nature and landscape in all its simple beauty and complex moods.
Deen was born December 9, 1874 in Mount Union, Pennsylvania. At the age of 16, he and his family moved to Harrisburg where his father worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Ira’s first job in Harrisburg w (showing 500 of 3157 characters). |
