Born in Portsmouth, Ohio in 1909, he died in 1975. Primarily a portrait painter, Doerr studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and graduated about 1930. He did not paint much after college. He went to work during the war (WWII) as art director at Wright Patterson Airforce Base in Dayton. Later he became an illustrator for Selby Shoe company. Then he started his own design and manufacturing business in the display industry, Doerr and Associates. He died at age 65.
