This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Renfrew, Scotland on Aug. 19, 1904. Dickie came to the U.S. as a child. By the early 1930s he had worked in Hollywood for the Disney studios and then settled in Oakland where he was a cartoonist for the Tribune. In 1960 he married artist Jean Kellogg and moved to the Monterey Peninsula. At his home in Carmel, he wrote and illustrated children's drawing books until his death there on May 12, 1986. In: MOMA.
