| Jane Darovskikh is a figurative artist working in traditional sculpting methods such as carving, clay and wax modeling, plaster and bronze casting. She also creates drawings and watercolor paintings in preparation for sculptures.
Darovskikh focuses her art work on Nordic mythology, cultural exchange and her belief in the truth of art as an International language. A native of Upstate New York, her pursuit has brought her to such places as Kulusuk Greenland, the Ural Mountains of Russia, Yangshuo South China, and the Nordic and Baltic rim nations of Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. She has lived and worked as an artist in residence in Akureyri northern Iceland, Tallinn Estonia, and Helsinki Finland. The artist exhibits in the United States and internationally.
Janie is the founder of The American Nordic Artist's Association, a voluntary non-profit association dedicated to promoting international understanding through artistic exchanges. Darovskikh is the recipient of two Fulbright grants, the Suomalainen Perustus Grant, and numerous other awards including recognition and support of her work by the NY Foundation of the Arts.
