| | Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she studied at the University of Chicago, the Art Students League in New York and the Grand Chaumiere in Paris. The greater part of her life, she lived in Laurel Hollow, Long Island. At the Art Students League, she studied with Sterling Calder and, knowing him from childhood, Alexander Calder. She was one of Alexander Calder's early supporters, and they had a life-long friendship. |
