Janos (Joannes, John) De Tahy (1865-1928)
Born in Hungary, he came to the US in 1881. He studied for a short time at Cooper Union in New York City but returned to Europe to study in Munich, Germany and Budapest, Hungary. He returned to the United States in 1886, devoting himself mainly to portrait painting and making a specialty of pictures of musicians. Liszt's Second Rhapsody, one of his first pictures and The Moonlight Sonata were purchased in 1912 by the Aeol (showing 500 of 1309 characters). |
