| | Born in Hamburg, Germany on Sept. 19, 1871. Dove immigrated to the U.S. in 1905. In 1933 he moved to the San Francisco Bay area and settled in Berkeley. He commuted daily by ferry to San Francisco where he created stage sets for the opera. While visiting in Sacramento, he died on Feb. 8, 1945.
