A businessman, art dealer, painter and sculptor, he was born in Hamburg, Germany, and fled to England in 1936, settling in the U.S. after World War II. His portraits are in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, D.C., and the Museum of the City of New York.
Delbanco died on November 16, 2007 in New York City, at the age of 98.
