This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Lisa Dinhofer has created a body of work that includes works-on-paper, paintings, prints and mosaics including a five wall, 9 feet by 90 feet glass-tile mosaic for New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority at Times Square subway station.  Much of her work, including the MTA piece, Losing My Marbles, has a sense of illusion and whimsy, and is an example of "her pleasure in expertly rendering shiny, colorful things in a skewed space.  The marbles seem to come at the viewer, to float, and all in a lively and engaging presentation of color and light, which greatly improves the antiseptic environment of the subway station."

Dinhofer earned a B.A. degree from Brandeis University and her M.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.  Among her awards are the Gladys Emerson Cook Prize from the National Accademy of Design, and fellowships from Yaddo and MacDowell Colony.

Lisa Dinhofer is a teacher of figure drawing at the National Academy School of Fine Art in New York City.
