This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Mabel E. Davis, known for landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, spent most of her life in New Bedford, MA, including a career of instructing at the Swain Free School of Design for twenty-five years. She had her formal training at the Massachusetts Normal Art School in Boston, with Charles Woodbury in Ogunquit, ME and in Provincetown with Charles Hawthorne.

She exhibited at various art clubs in New Bedford during her career including New Bedford Art Club, New Bedford Free Library; Swain Free School of Design and New Bedford Society of Independent Artists. Mabel Davis was devoted to her art both in the works she produced and as a teacher.
