| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Born in Guatamala City, Guatamala in 1935, Manuel de Arce was the son
of famed Guatamalan hero Manuel De Arce I. He was a national poet
of famed poems such as General, Presidential Sermon, and Map with a
Stone.
He was a very political person and worked against the regime of Lucas
Garcia and was threatened repeatedly. He was exiled from the
country of Guatamala and took refuge in Paris, France where he died of
Pulmonary Cancer in 1985. |
