This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following, submitted September 2004, is from the artist.

Margaret Dyer, whose specialty is depicting the female figure in pastel, paints her sisters, friends, daughters, and sometimes local artists' models. She works with them in their own environments for the personal details, decor and clutter which help make each painting unique

Dyer works in pastels, a medium used in important works by numerous Impressionists and Post Impressionists including Degas, Manet, Monet, Morisot, Cassatt, Chase, Hassam, Whistler and Renoir.

She is a native of Long Island, New York, but has lived in the Atlanta, Georgia, area for over 40 years. She trained at the Atlanta College of Art and also studied with Roman Chatov, a Russian portraitist and muralist, and Kate Felterolf, a pastelist. Dyer teaches workshops and has numerous solo and group exhibitions. She consistently wins awards, is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a Member of Excellence in the Southeastern Pastel Society. In 1997, she was voted Artist of the Year by the Atlanta Branch of American Penwomen.
