| | Born in Lorient, France on March 8, 1884. Dondo was educated at College de Vannes, University of Pennsylvania (M.A.) and Columbia University (Ph.D.) While in New York he studied at the ASL under Henri, Hawthorne, Schumacher, and Bellows. He taught French and literature at Columbia and Princeton universities and at UC Berkeley from 1923 to 1948. Dondo retired to Hawaii and died on Maui on Aug. 30, 1968.
