Biography from Butler Institute of American Art:
| Nathaniel J. Pousette-Dart studied painting with Robert Henri and sculpture with Hermon Atkins McNeil. In 1907 he was in Philadelphia studying at the Philadelphia Academy. After three years of study and two years abroad, he returned home to St. Paul, Minnesota where he worked as an art director and taught at Minnesota College, St. Catherines College and St. Paul Art School.
He returned to New York after a few years and became art director at one of New York’s leading advertising firms. He went into business for himself in 1924 and was very active in the New York Art Director’s Club. He continued to exhibit his painting and prints throughout his career. |
