Born in Prescott, Arkansas, Nelly Deacham was a painter, writer, and art teacher who settled in Chicago. There from 1942 to 1946, she directed the exhibitions of the All-Illinois Society.
She studied at the Arkansas State Teachers College, Peabody College, the University of Chicago, the Chicago Art Institute.
Her work is in Arkansas at the Capitol Building at Little Rock, the State Teachers College in Conway, and at Fort Smith.
