| | Born in Indiana in 1866. Oscar was the eldest child and pupil of painter Edwin Deakin. The family settled in San Francisc in 1870. When he was of age, Oscar joined his father and uncles in the family business, Deakin Brothers which imported Japanese goods. Oscar died there of tuberculosis in 1898. Many of his paintings were destroyed in the fire which followed the earthquake in 1906. Due to his short lifespan, his works are rare. Exhibited: California State Fair, 1886-89; San Francisco Art Ass’n, 1894-95; Studio Bldg (San Francisco), 1906; Alaska-Yukon Expo (Seattle), 1909.
