| Born in Germany on June 21, 1864. Doering studied art in Munich and Düsseldorf before immigrating to southern California in 1910. He had studio-homes in both Los Angeles and Laguna Beach. While active in the local art scene, he made painting excursions into the Sierra and other scenic spots of southern California. His colorful landscapes often include wild flowers. Doering died in Los Angeles on Aug. 7, 1947.
