Roland Oxford Davies (b. Stourport, Worcestershire U.K. 7/22/1904; d. 12/10/1993)
1919-1921  Attended Ipswich Art School
1922-1925 Apprenticeship with a Lithography Co. specializing in Cinema and Railway Posters
1926  Staff Artist for Temple Press designing covers for Autocar and Motor Cycle Magazines through the 1930’s
1928  Designed covers for Modern Boy Magazine
1931  Illustrated set of 50 Ogden’s Tobacco Cards titled Motor Races 1931
1932  Started Come on Steve comic strip featuring Steve the Horse.  Appeared in Sunday Express until 1939 and then in the Sunday Dispatch for another 10 years.
1933  Created Post Card Covers for J.Salmon Ltd.
1935-1938 Created 6 animated movie shorts based on Come on Steve Cartoon Strip.
1938  Drew Comic Strip Series Whoopee Hank and Contrary Mary the Moke for The Beano.
1939-1945 Illustrated Home Front War Posters for Britain's Ministry of Information
1949  Drew weekly comic serial Sexton Blake for The Knockout. Wrote and illustrated The Daily Mail Speedway Book.
1950  Illustrated Jill Crusoe for School Friend until 1959.
1950’s-1960’s  Illustrated and wrote many Annuals such as a UK version of Roy Rogers, Children’s Books, Safety Posters and Comics such as Dixon of Dock Green and Norman and Henry Bones.
1952  Wrote and Illustrated The Ace Book of Speed.
1954  Illustrated Red Ray for TV Comic until 1956.
1961  Illustrated Pete Madden for The Knockout until 1973
1965  Illustrated a version of Beetle Bailey for TV Comic
c 1970  Semi-Retired from illustration field to devote time to traditional painting.
1976  Wrote and Illustrated Book Tim The Sheriff
