Sallie George Fullilove Doke was a recognized painter residing in Corsicana, Alma, Lometa, and Lampasas, Texas.
Doke was born in Keachie, Louisiana in 1872. She received her fine art training at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She lived in Corsicana, Texas from 1915-1916; in Alma, Texas in 1917; in Rice, Texas in 1918; and in both Lometa and Lampasas Texas in the 1920's.
Doke served on the art committee of the Texas Federation of Women's Club (showing 500 of 1174 characters). |
