| Born in Stockton, CA on Feb. 24, 1909, the son of artist Richard DeTreville. Settling in San Diego in 1912, Stanley later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. For several years he was a taxidermist for the San Diego Natural History Museum. He headed the art and photo department of the San Diego Union for a short while, and was art director of the Phillips-Ramsey Advertising Agency for many years.
