The following information was submitted by the artist's daughter, Mary L. Shapiro: A portrait artist, she had been a a long-time resident of West Philadelphia, when she died January 11, 1995.
Mrs. Devine graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1931, and received a fine arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in a combined course with the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1936. In 1935 she exhibited a self-portrait in a juried exhibition at the Academy of Fine Art (showing 500 of 1003 characters). |
