From Shelby, Nebraska, Terence Duren became known for his work in mural and landscape painting, illustrating, and stage production.
He grew up on a farm and spent much time painting his native state from his studio on the grounds of his home in Shelby. During the 1920s, he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Cleveland Art Institute and then went to Paris where he enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. In Paris, he was told by Henri Matisse to never deviate from his fresh style (showing 500 of 799 characters). |
