This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A resident of Omaha, Nebraska, Terry Donahue is a pastelist who strives for a loose, impressionistic style that captures the "wildness" of wildlife.

He has a fine arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and is more challenged by pastels because of not being able to change easily as can be done with oils and acrylics.

Sarah A. Strickley, "Terry Donahue", The Pastel Journal, April, 2007, pp. 38-41

Biography from Cody Fine Art Gallery:
Terry Donahue is a wildlife artist whose subjects include primates, big cats, birds and other species.   Using primarily pastel, his goal is to create palpable textures and dynamic sensations of movement, form and space with bold and expressive hues, often juxtaposed against white or abstracted backgrounds.

Terry Donahue was born in 1956 in Duluth, Minnesota, where he developed an early awareness of the beauty and importance of nature. He recalls frequent backyard visits from black bear and moose—with each experience imparting a growing respect and fascination for wildlife and natural habitats.

His first and greatest influence was his eldest brother (also an artist) who recognized Donahue's natural drawing skills and encouraged his talent.  He began painting with oil on canvas as early as the fourth grade, and later earned a degree in fine art at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he had received a full scholarship for basketball.  After an extensive career in commercial art, Donahue decided to devote his full time to his first love, which was fine art.  Pastels eventually proved to be the perfect medium for his impressionistic compositions and provided the challenge he was looking for, allowing him to breathe life into his wildlife subjects and create a brilliant sense of motion.

His works have been featured in several art magazines, such as Wildlife Art and Pastel Journal.  Terry currently lives with his wife in Omaha, Nebraska.
