Valeria K (Dopyera) DeMarsa Frost Field  (Apr. 2, 1901 -Jan. 2, 1985)

Valeria K (Dopyera) DeMarsa was born in Czechoslovakia, April 2, 1901.  In 1908, she with her parents, immgrated to the United States. She is living in Los Angels in 1910 [Federal census]

By 1919 she is found in Ford City (just north of Taft), Kern County, California, by the  following year, 1920, she is hired as an Art teacher in Los Angeles Schools.

In 1926 she is living in Ford City with her husband, Clarence S DeMarsa (Born 22 Jul 1890 - Michigan).

By 1930 she is once again in Los Angeles [Federal census], and in 1933 she is operating Triangle Studios in the  city of El Monte. Vallona Starr Ceramics is her trade name.

When  World War II breaks out she is still married to  Clarence DeMarse, but  also have Everett S Frost in their household.  About 1953 she closes her studio.

Clarence dies October 15, 1956, in San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County, California.

Valeria remarries, November 27, 1965 to Everett S Frost, and they are living in El Monte, Los Angeles, County.  This marriage lasted until their divorce, February 7, 1980, in San Luis Obispo County.

Valeria dies January 2, 1985, in San Luis Obispo County, California, under the surname Field.

Valeria K. Dopyera DeMarsa (1901- ) China painter, art teacher. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1901. DeMarsa was trained at the Dresden Art Academy. By 1921 she had settled in Los Angeles and was teaching art in the public schools. During the 1930s she established Vallone Starr Ceramics that continued to operate in El Monte, CA until 1953. She appears to have returned to Europe in the 1960s.
