Daughter of Kansas missionaries, the family returned to Kansas settling first in Yates Center in 1935 and then in Emporia. Graduated from the College of Wooster in 1944 then worked in Kansas City for Hallmark Cards. Moved to southern California in 1946 where she raised a family and did some book illustrating.
