|  Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a resident of Tarrytown, New York, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Haverford College and in 1977, attended the Academia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy.
He also attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, earning a four-year certificate in 1983. He was a participant in the studio program at New York's P.S. 1 in 1984 and in 1987 won a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Vincent Desiderio teaches at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (2005).
