| Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Willard Dixon became a painter of Northern California coastal landscapes and of still lifes inspired by the Zen meditation that he practices. He began exploring still lifes in the early 1990s, as a way of having more control over the elements in his paintings. He began with tabletop views of fruits and other objects that emphasized the horizontal aspects of the subject and has moved to ever more isolated compositions through which he explores the 'essential nature' (showing 500 of 9655 characters). |
