This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Wilson DeMeza, 1857-1893, was born in Tarrytown, New York and died in Lakewood, New Jersey.  He studied Civil Engineering and Law prior to beginning his life as an Artist .

He studied at Lehigh before moving to New York City where he became an Illustrator for Life and Cosmopolitan Magazines, for children's books,  and a Portrait and Impressionist Painter. 

In 1883 he travelled to Paris, and in 1885, he exhibited in the "Salon". 

De Meza was stricken with consumption and died at Lakewood, New Jersey on April 27th, 1893.
