This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information is from Amy Whorf McGuiggan, who wrote: "I am curating the exhibition that will be held at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) in April, 2013, and have done extensive research for the exhibition."

Albert Edel was born in Soultz-les-Bains France in 1894. He died in Provincetown in 1970. He is buried in Franklin, Massachusetts. Though he painted in both oil and watercolor, he is best known for his intimate etchings of Provincetown of which he did approximately 60 different scenes over the years.

He also ran a small art shop in Provincetown. He married Stella Johnson who had studied with Charles Hawthorne in Provincetown and was a very good painter in her own right. She studied with Charles Hawthorne in Provincetown during the World War I era, and was associated with a group of block print artists that included Blanche Lazzell, Ethel Mars and Ada Gilmore. She was among the first exhibitors at the newly organized Provincetown Art Association in 1915.

Edel’s childhood in France, and the early years of his marriage when the couple lived in France, have been more difficult to document, but his thirty years in Provincetown are quite well documented. He was an active member of the Provincetown art community.

A note from John Whiting, who grew up in Provincetown, and is subject of a painting by Albert Edel as a thirteen-year old: "Albert Edel was indeed married to Stella; they were next-door neighbors."

The following information is from Joanne Harrison, owner of work by the artist:

Hello from Canada….I have been looking up Albert Edel.  We have 3 of his etchings that we got in 1967 when we met him and his wife, Stella, in Provincetown on our honeymoon….i.e. 45 years ago. We bought 2 etchings,  Highland  and  On Railroad Wharf  and he gave us The Three Towers in 1967.
