This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Paul Werts, grand nephew of the artist:

"Alfred Eichler, California State architect from 1925-1964, has works at the California State Archives and the Golden State Museum in Sacramento.

I will be exhibiting his professional and private works in California in the coming years in cities and at locations where he was an architect on the project. Out first show will be in Camarillo in 2002 or 2003."

During my latest trip to Sacramento to prepare for the exhibition of Alfred Eichler's profession work at the Camarillo State Hospital, soon to be California State University Channel Islands, I found a collection of 75 water color paintings, mostly of downtown Sacramento buildings, at the downtown library. It is really a nice collection, and I advise anyone who is interested in reviewing architecture of old Sacramento to see these paintings.

In the California State Archives, are the professional work of Alfred Eichler. There are 455 drawings and 807 photographs per the California State Archives.

In the state capital building, I have seen other professional work of Alfred Eichler.

In the Sacramento area, probably one of the most known of his architectural designs is the Tower Bridge on "M" Street near the Capital Building.

Please check this site for further update about the exhibition of Alfred Eichler at California State University Channel Islands.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Included in the archives are architectural plans and renderings by Alfred Eichler, who was an architect for the State of California for many years, 1925-1964.

His buildings include state colleges and universities, correctional institutions, state mental hospitals, the Benecia State Capitol, Tower Bridge in Sacramento, and Veteran's Home in Yountville. Photographs were taken by Eichler and document the construction of these buildings.
